Quotes and Take-Aways:
Susan – With a focus on smart phones you tend to define yourself by how many likes you get. You see that they didn’t like that. Therefore, they didn’t like me. There must be something wrong with me and the way I’m creating my life if I’m not getting the likes or the hits.
Susan – There is an epidemic of loneliness since Covid. People have been trained to turn to their phones or to the streams, whether Netflix or whatever it is.
Susan – We need to teach those tools again. What it’s like to actually like to experience being alive.
Susan – I believe we need to be encouraged to ask questions. For me it’s all about living in the question.
Susan – Ask yourself, what would an iPhone free Saturday look like?
Susan – You asked how we can shift and change things. It’s about asking a question: what would bring me joy today? What’s my foundation? What’s my intention with today?
Susan – We are made to move. I walk every morning. Why? It opens me up to a world greater than myself. I’m connecting to the colour of the sky, the leaves, the changes of the season. My body is moving. I’m moving. It’s a place to be in the question and receive the joy of being alive.
Susan – It’s not about a to do list. My intention each day could be different or similar. It’s set in the values of who I am. My intention today might be to do no harm. My intention might be to discover something, stretch myself or challenge myself.
Susan – I might think everything I’ve put aside and ask myself which one is really scaring me. I’m not going to do it but I can at least think about it. I can imagine how am I going to feel at the end of the day if I did this? How am I going to feel if I don’t do this? You’re in a conversation with you. You can get a good feeling of awareness if you’re willing to listen to the whispers of awareness. You might get that good feeling from thinking, “I am the kind of person who can do that thing.” You can be present of what the world is asking of you. You can then respond.
Susan – My intention for the day is always to grow. We go backwards if we don’t ask ourselves to grow. We don’t stay stagnant. It’s impossible for us to stay stagnant. We change all the time.
Susan – We tend to lean into our stories. I encourage people to ask a question about that story. Is that really true? I might be telling myself, “I don’t know how to do this”. Ask yourself, “Is that true?” If it’s not true, what would it feel like to accomplish that? I could say, “My intention for today is no negative thoughts, or to have a judgement free day.”
Susan – We have this wonderful big, wonderful, huge life, which we’ve contracted into this small box of what other people say and be and do. You came here to shout out loud.
Susan – It’s important to remember the promise you made to yourself by choosing this body in this lifetime. You don’t need to know what it is, but if it’s on the lower realm of energies like judgment or blame or shame or regret, then it doesn’t feel good. You came here to feel good.
Susan – You never see one bird saying to another, “I’m not singing this morning. These feathers make me look fat.”
