Quotes and Take-Aways:
Dr. Jaime – When I think about connections between mental and physical health, the four pillars of health: nutrition, movement, sleep and relaxation.
Dr. Jaime – Eating healthy foods keeps us energized throughout the day. It keeps us feeling good. When we eat more heavily processed food, that are higher in sugar, this will leave us feeling more sluggish. That makes it even more difficult to keep us energized throughout the day.
Dr. Jaime – Movement helps promote the production of endorphins in our body, which can act as natural pain killers and mood elevators. It also helps reduce our cortisol levels and stress levels throughout the day.
Dr. Jaime – A good sleep can help reduce stress levels and improve your concentration and productivity throughout the day. A lot of the recovery that we need is happening when we’re sleeping.
Dr. Jaime – People breath out of their chests, as opposed to their abdomen. It’s really important that we try to work on diaphragmatic breathing, lower down, as opposed to breathing higher up from our chests. Over time the muscles higher up can get overworked, which can lead to shoulder pain, neck pain, back pains or headaches.
Dr. Jaime – Our financial debt and responsibilities can cause physical stress, which can contribute to back pain, neck pain, headaches, interrupted sleep and other physical ailments.
Dr. Jaime – When we are not physically healthy, it can put a damper on our financial health.
Bulletin Board Quote brought to you by Cameron: If you talk to me like I’m five-years-old, stupid, and you speak really slowly, then maybe I’ll understand you.
