[0:00:35] What’s On Your Mind: How do you recognize anxiety in yourself and in others? We found a post that showed us many signs. You can only try to address it if you recognize it in yourself. You have a chance to support others if you recognize it in them. Realtor Lynne MacDonald is back for another interview [Economic Wellness]. She provides introductory information for home sellers. When people call to list their home for sale, the first question she asks is “why?”. The answer helps direct how she proceeds with the sale. Lynne talks at high level about the process, staging and more. She notes that it’s a very personal relationship. You’re together a lot, sometimes for a long period of time. A realtor really needs to build a relationship with the client, and there’s a lot of trust involved.

Quotes and Take-Aways:

John – If you’re not recognizing that it’s anxiety that’s doing these things, the symptoms might not only continue, but build up on each other.

Lynne – When people call us who want to list their home for sale, the first question we ask is “why?”. The answer helps us direct how we proceed with the sale of the property.

Lynne – It’s a very personal relationship. You’re together a lot, sometimes for a long period of time. A realtor really needs to build a relationship with the client, and there’s a lot of trust involved.

Lynne – Buyers always think a house is worth less than a seller thinks it’s worth. A seller always thinks it’s worth more than a buyer does.

Lynne – Empty rooms seem smaller than rooms with furniture. We try when possible to stage our vacant rooms, because it makes the room look bigger.

Lynne – When taking a staging course, I learned to take a photo of the room and then look at the picture, because your eye is accustomed to the things that are cluttering a room. You see them more clearly when you look at a photo. There may be a pile of newspapers that has been in your living room for four months. You stop seeing it, but when I show you a photo of that room you see the pile of newspapers sitting beside the chair.

John – I came up with a positive affirmation that made me feel better when regret was weighing on me: I can’t change the past, but I can make improvements starting today.

Bulletin Board Quote brought to you by Stephen: 9-year-old me was saying “top hat you have just as much right to win as race car does”.
